What a great way to start your round. Hit your drive over the creek favoring
the right side of the fairway, but be aware, the creek comes down the bank on
the right side of the fairway. Blast your second shot towards the green
staying away from the forward trap about 100 yards in front on the green on
the left. Hopefully you can see the green now and the trap on the right side
of the green.

This is one of my favorite holes on the course. Aim your drive for the left
side of the fairway past the striped directional 150 yard pole in the middle
of the fairway. You’ll want it to hit left and roll down towards the center of
the fairway. The second shot needs to go to the green. There is a ravine on
the left and, a rock ledge on the right of this 2 tier green. Check out the
small cave under the rock ledge, any one home?

An uphill par 3 with another 2 tier green. A front right pin position favors
the contour of the green and a hole in one. Interesting fact, an optical
illusion makes this tee shot look uphill, but it isn’t!

Once your over the ravine, a birdie is within reach. Beware of the right side
on your drive as your ball might trickle down into the woods. Once you are in
the center of the fairway aim your second shot over the big tree on the left.
Your second, or third shot, to the green needs to stay left. There is a steep
hill that your ball will roll down and then you’ll be hitting up to a three
tier green.

Straight away shot over the ravine at another 2 tier green that slopes left to
right with a bunker on the right side of the green. Be aware of the wind, it
regularly makes a 1 to 2 club difference.

Off the tee enjoy the view and favor the left side of the fairway, note the
elevation will change after your tee shot. The fairway ends about 120 yards
from the green as you approach the creek. Civil War artifacts were found
during construction of this hole and effects the drainage of the hole. The
second shot crosses the creek to a three tier green with a bunker on the left.
Good luck.

Blast your drive to the center of the fairway staying right of the tree, and
the townhouses, on the left. The creek also encroaches on the right side of
the fairway but very early on. Your second shot approaches a two tier green
with a bunker on the right side. Don’t be long as a waste area is in back of
the green.

You can drive this green! Your drive goes over the creek, aim for center, and
stay out of the traps on either side of the green. Head across the low water
bridge and hopefully you have a good chance for birdie or eagle. Head back
across the bridge staying to the right, for the 9th hole tee box.

Straight away drive towards the pump house with a bunker on the front left
side of the green and the creek on the far right side of the cart path.
Okay, let’s figure up the stokes and check to see if you have enough golf
balls for the rest of the round. Stop by “The Turn” for a cool refreshing
beverage or a snack before heading to the back nine.

A great start to the back 9. The green is across the creek in front of the
old barn. Take your drive towards the right center of the fairway, and watch
out for the creek as it winds it way down the left side of the fairway. Be
careful, the fairway ends just after the 15o yard pole. Depending on how good
your drive is you can either go for the green or lay up on your second shot.

Hit your drive to the right of the big tree on the left side of the fairway.
Bunkers line the left side of the fairway over the hill just past that same
big tree. When planning your second shot be aware that the creek is in front
of the green by about 30 yards. Isn’t it a pretty little creek. Don’t fret
you’ll only see it for two more holes. Go across the road and up the hill on
the right to the next tee box.

Welcome to the number one handicap hole. Another elevation change with a
great view, no you can’t see the green from here, and one of the oldest red
barns in Benton County. That little creek is just down the hill and it will
pass in front of you again up by the green as it bisects this fairway. Just
aim your tee shot at the 200 yard pole. Once in the landing area you can see
the two tier green ahead with rocks on the left, creek on the right, and for
good measure a sand trap front right. Lost any balls yet?

Your last look at the creek which is in front of you and, on the left side of

rest as it‘s in a valley.

The green is around the corner to the left. Hit your drive between the 150
yard pole and the top plateau over the traps. Your second shot is to a
challenging three level green with a bunker and a valley on the left with no
room to bail out on the right.

For a good drive aim to the area above the bunkers, the green is to the right,
and if you hit the right spot on this fast grass it will roll all the way to
the bottom of the hill. Remember the second shot is usually up hill and to
one of the most challenging 2 level greens anywhere.

Over the ravine to a two tier green with a bunker on the right. This is the
last par 3, and did you realize that each of the par 3’s face a different
direction. This one faces due west. There are places on this green where a
two putt is almost impossible.

Hit a good drive to the left of the big tree on the right side of the fairway
and you’ll be doing ok. There is a water reservoir on the far right that
you’ll want to avoid. Another three level green with the last bunker, (25
total bunkers on the course), on the front left of the green.

Send a good drive to the center of this tight fairway and stay away from the
water feature that passes down the right side of the hole just past the
landing area and out of bounds over the cart path on the left.. The two level
green has a pond on the right front of the green and the water continues from
the right side to the center of the fairway in front of the green.
Hope you had fun and enjoyed the beauty and challenge that Big Sugar Golf Club
has to offer. See you on the back porch of “ The Turn“.
